19th Arrondissement: Parc des Buttes-Chaumont

This past week we visited a few parks in the 19th arrondissement. Even though this is an area tourists frequent less often than much of Paris, the 19th has a lot to offer in terms of fresh air and gorgeous open space. It is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, while still experiencing gorgeous scenery. One of the most beautiful locations in the 19th arrondissement is Parc des Buttes-Chaumont. Located right off the Buttes Chaumont metro strop, the park is expansive and green.
Parc des Buttes-Chamont: Prominent Architectural Object

Created under Napoleon III, the park is mostly man-made. Above, you can see the Temple de la Sibylle located on the peak of the park. This is the most recognizable symbol of the park.

We found some interesting statues throughout the park, typical of Paris.

This bridge is called Suicide Bridge, which leads to the Temple de la Sibylle.

Parc des Buttes-Chaumont is huge and perfect for exploration. Throughout the park you can find beautiful artificial waterfalls and caves.

The bridge above also leads to the island. This bridge was designed by Gustav Eiffel!

Here's Andi at the Temple de la Sibylle!

Pavillon du Lac des Buttes- Chaumont: Commercial Business

Here is the Pavillon du Lac des Buttes-Chaumont, a restaurant where you can get a bite to eat within the park. Another option is Rosa Bonheur, not pictured, a charming cafe, which stays open after the park closes as a high energy nightlife location. I visited Rosa Bonheur on my first trip to Paris, and it remains one of my favorite cafes in the city!

La Grande Halle: Interesting Site

Next we visited Parc de la Villette, one of the biggest parks in Paris. Above is La Grande Halle located in the park, a large concert venue. There are two other large concert venues located in Parc de la Villette.

Here are postings of concerts and events happening soon in the park!

Here is a beautiful fountain we found in the park.

Cité de la Musique: Tourist Attraction

Here is a tourist attraction also located within Parc de la Villette: the Cité de la Musique, Paris' music museum. It contains exhibitions of classical musical instruments and how they have changed throughout history.

Le Laumiere: Two Star Hotel

Above is the two-star Hotel and Restaurant Le Laumiere. Double rooms start at 73 Euros, a great choice for travelers on a budget! Below other facts about the district can be found. Overall, I enjoyed the 19th. Though the neighborhood is not as wealthy, and therefore not necessarily as safe or clean as other districts, but the parks were beautiful, and I will definitely be returning to picnic in the park!
