9th Arrondissement: Opera and Galeries Lafayette

The 9th arrondissement borders the 1st and 2nd, and has a number of tourist attractions like most of Paris' arrondissements.
Academie National de Musique: Architectural Object
Academie Nationale de Musique is located directly at the Opera metro stop, so we started our adventure here. The Paris Opera is the primary Opera company of Paris, and numerous operas and ballet performances are put on in this location each year. The building is grand and elaborate.
This gorgeous statue stands outside the Opera house.
Cafe de la Paix: Commercial Business
Café de la Paix is a famous cafe located across the street diagonally from the Paris Opera. The cafe once had many famous patrons including Emile Zola. It has now been declared an historical site by the city.
Galleries Lafayette: Tourist Attraction
Galeries Lafayette is perhaps the most famous department store in Paris. It was opened in 1895, and has been in this location since 1912. The building was commissioned specifically for Galeries Lafayette, and has a gorgeous painted glass ceiling and open design. The store is extremely popular with asian tourists, who can be seen getting off tour buses and waiting in line to purchase expensive designer goods. Customers are often limited to purchasing only one or two high end bags, to keep the luxury good a hard-to-get commodity.

L'Olympia: Interesting Site
We visited Olympia concert hall on Fete de la Musique, a national holiday which includes city-wide free concerts. We were lucky enough to learn last minute about the free Lana del Ray concert, which we got into easily.

The photos are a little blurry, but the show was wonderful! We had to stand for hours before Lana came on, but we were very close to the stage and had an amazing view! Not bad for a free concert.

Hotel Chausee D'Antin: Two Star Hotel
Hotel Chausee D'Antin is a two star hotel close to Opera and L'Olympia. Double rooms start at 79 Euros per night.
