1st Arrondissement: Louvre and Tuileries

The 1st arrondissement is one of the areas of Paris most populated by tourists, but it has become one of my favorite districts, especially given recent discoveries.
Louvre: Tourist Attraction

One of the most well-known landmarks in Paris is the Louvre. The Louvre is massive and filled with seemingly endless fascinating and richly historical artwork. Spending several days in the Louvre is more than possible and definitely recommended when staying over a few weeks.

Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel: Architectural Object

Facing the Louvre, leading into the Tuileries garden, is the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel. This Arc is smaller and less famous than the Arc de Triomphe de l'Etóile, but nonetheless beautiful and ornate as is typical of Paris.

The details on buildings and monuments are always stunning.
Tuileries Gardens: Interesting Site

I feel as if I could say this about many parks in Paris, but Tuileries is one of my favorite places I have been this trip. Parisians are very fond of their parks, and it is clear why. The busyness of the city is exciting, but can be overwhelming. Paris' parks and gardens offer a healthy place to go and relax, with friends or alone.

Tuileries in particular is filled with statues and monuments. It is incredibly beautiful and picturesque.

The Tuileries garden captures ideal Paris more than anywhere else I have found. On one side, there is the Louvre. On all sides you are surrounded by gorgeous architecture. The flowers and sculptures are incredibly beautiful, and parisians are picnicking all around. You stroll along, and looking up, catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower. There is only one place you could be.
Strolling along in the Tuileries, we came across a delightful sight! We had discovered the carnival.
Including an exciting-- though somewhat intimidating-- stretch of rides, the summer carnival is filled with tasty treats and tons of fun. We saw mostly locals riding rides and enjoying games and food. The Ferris wheel offered amazing views of Paris, and the swings were very tempting!

We were very excited to find cotton candy and numerous other treats!

Angelina: Commercial Business

I wouldn't advise coming to Angelina straight after eating carnival treats, but it is a must for all of Paris' visitors. Angelina's world famous hot chocolate is served frozen in the summer, which I have found even more delicious. Angelina is similar to Ladurée in many ways, and has a case full of pastries comparable in both high quality and high price.

Another notable thing about the 1st is this park along the Seine, by the beautiful Pont Alexandre III bridge. There are several cafes along the river, as well as unexpected objects converted into seating. This is another perfect place to stop and have a picnic with a beautiful view. At one point along the river close to the bridge, there is a massive bluetooth speaker that anyone can connect to and play music straight off his or her phone.
Here is an art installation we found in the same park.
Londres Saint-Honoré: Two Star Hotel

The Londres Saint-Honoré is a two star hotel in the 1st district, with double rooms starting at 104 Euros. This is the perfect location for tourists. Overall, the 1st is a great area with beautiful sights and plenty to do!
